シンガポール入国時には必ずICAの登録が必要のため、CIQ到着前に必ず手続きをネットで済ませておいてください。
勿論、パスポート提示の入り口付近で登録する事もできますが出国者が多く朝や夕方以降の時間帯は混雑するため事前に登録しておくとスムーズに入国できます。

ジョホール・バルの物価について
The difference in the price of drinks at the actual convenience store I went to.
I verified this with a single 500 ml bottle of Coca-Cola from a 7-Eleven convenience store.
In Johor Bahru, it is sold for 3 MYR. In terms of Japanese yen, it costs 95.23 yen.
It is 159 yen when purchased in Japan, so it is relatively inexpensive.
In neighboring Singapore, it costs 3.4 SGD = 377.59 yen.
What a surprise, this is more than the price of two bottles in Japan‼
The exchange rate in November 2023 is as follows

実際に行ったコンビニエンスストアでの飲み物の違い
コンビニエンスストアのセブンイレブンのコカ・コーラ500ml1本で検証してみました。
ジョホールバルでは３MYRで販売されています。日本円に換算すると95円。
日本で購入すると159円なので割安で購入できますね。
隣国のシンガポールでは3.4SGD＝377円。
なんと、日本では2本分以上の値段です‼

Difference in prices between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur
When I asked Malaysians living in Kuala Lumpur if there is a difference in cost of living between Johor Bahru and Kuala Lumpur, even though they live in the same Malaysia, they said that Johor Bahru is more expensive because it is closer to Singapore.
He said, “If a bowl of rice costs 1 MYR in Kuala Lumpur, you need 2 to 3 MYR in Johor Bahru, so the cost of living is 2 or 3 times higher.
When I asked Malaysians living in Johor Bahru how much their monthly living expenses were, they told me that if they had a car and a house, they could live on about 150,000 yen per month.
クアラルンプールに住むマレーシア人に同じマレーシアでも、ジョホールバルとクアラルンプールで物価の違いがあるのか聞いてみたところ、ジョホールバルの方がシンガポールに近いため物価が高いとのことです。
「クアラルンプールでお茶碗1杯が１MYRだとするとジョホール・バルは２～３MYR必要で生活費が２、３倍かかるよ」と話していました。
また、ジョホール・バルに住むマレーシア人に毎月生活費がどのくらいかかるのか聞くと車や家もあるなら毎月15万円くらいあれば生活が出来ると話していました。
What is R&F Princess Cove?
location
Located in the central business district of the Iskandar Special Economic Zone in Johor Bahru, Malaysia’s second largest city, which is only 1056 meters away from Singapore and is expected to become the new urban benchmark for Singapore and Malaysia.
It takes less than 20 minutes to walk from CIQ, but you can walk on the aerial walkway from the station, so you can get to your apartment almost without getting wet on rainy days.
シンガポールからはわずか1056メートルしか離れておらず、シンガポールとマレーシアの新しい都市のベンチマークになることが期待されているマレーシア第2の都市ジョホールバルのイスカンダル経済特区の中心業務地区に位置。
CIQから徒歩で20分弱程度かかるが、駅から空中歩道を歩いて行けるので雨の日もほとんど濡れずにマンションへ行くことができます。

Entrances
Security guards are stationed 24 hours a day at the condominium entrances of each building, opening and closing the doors as people enter and exit.
There is also a shelf outside the entrance where packages that have arrived can be placed. Large packages that cannot fit in the mailbox are delivered there, and you go downstairs from your room to pick them up.
This system is similar to a delivery box in Japan, and a security guard is stationed outside the apartment to keep track of packages.
各棟のマンション入り口に警備員が２４時間常駐しており、出入りの際にドアを開閉してくれます。
また、入り口の外に届いた荷物を置く棚があります。ポストに入らない大きな荷物ははそこに置かれて部屋から取りに行くシステムのため日本の宅配ボックスや置き配が、マンションの外になり警備員が常駐して管理しているといったイメージです。
Room Type
There are 8 buildings from A1 to A7.
The reason why there are 8 buildings when there are 1 to 7 is that the actual A4 building is labeled A3A.
Because the developer is a Chinese company, the number 4 is avoided in China because the Chinese pronunciation of the number 4 (sì) is very similar to the Chinese word for “death” (sǐ), and death is considered an unlucky event or bad luck.
Therefore, “4” tends to be avoided in various situations, such as building floors, floor numbers, telephone numbers, license plates, and product prices, so that in high-rise buildings, the 4th or 14th floor does not exist and is instead written as 3A or 13A.
For example, in building A1, there are 14 rooms on one floor, two 4-bedroom units, eight 3-bedroom units, and four 2-bedroom units.
A１棟からA７までの８棟あります。
なぜ、１～７棟なのに８棟なのかというと実際のA４棟はA３Aという表記になっています。
デベロッパーが中国の会社のため、中国では数字の４は中国語の四（sì）の発音が死（sǐ）と非常に似ているので、「死」は不吉な出来事や縁起が悪いとされているため避けられます。
そのため、建物の階数やフロア番号、電話番号、ナンバープレート、商品の価格など、さまざまな場面で「4」を避ける傾向があり、高層ビルでは4階や14階が存在せず代わりに3Aや13Aのように表記されるのです。
例えば、A1棟だと１フロアに１４部屋あり４ベッドルームが２戸、３ベッドルームが８戸、２ベッドルームが４戸。
Apartment Facilities
There is a common space on the 4th floor of all the buildings, and various facilities such as a library, gym, swimming pool, and playground equipment for children are spread throughout the site.
The area is so vast that it takes only one floor to go around, and I saw some people running on it as a running course.
４Fに全棟共有スペースが有り、図書館やジム、プール、子供が遊べる遊具等様々な設備が敷地内に広がっています。
１フロアまわるだけでもかなり広大な敷地のため、そこをランニングコースとして走っている方を見かけました。
hot-water supply system
It takes time for the hot water to come out. The first person to use the shower will be exposed to cold water for several minutes.
お湯出るのに時間がかかります。シャワーを浴びる際はしばらくは水が出続けるため、最初に使用する方はお湯の設定にしたまま水を出しっぱなしにしておかないと数分間水を浴びる事になります。
周辺環境
R&F mall
Before covid19, many tourists from Singapore used to visit the mall, but the coronavirus outbreak forced most of the stores to leave.
The shopping mall was abandoned.
Only a few cafes and a few Chinese restaurants are open.
We saw signs for a Daiso and a Subway, but these stores have closed and are now located in a large shopping mall near the CIQ.
コロナ禍前はシンガポールから多くの観光客が訪れていましたが、コロナで飲食店が撤退しショッピングモールは廃墟となりました。
飲食店で空いているのはcafeが数件、中華系の飲食店が数件といった感じ。ダイソーの看板を見かけましたが、この店舗は閉鎖し、CIQ近辺の大型ショッピングモールに店舗を構えています。
Supermarket
However, due to the presence of a certain number of residents, the supermarket on the first floor remains well stocked and clean, and many people are always shopping there.
ただ、住民は一定程度いるので一階にあるスーパーの品揃えや清潔感は保たれ、常に多くの人が買い物に来ています。
Laundromat
There is a laundromat, but it is cash only.
Is it safe? Bad?
Most of the stores in R&F Mall are closed, but the vast grounds are neatly cleaned.
I also felt that the PRINCE COVE area is safe, as there is a 24-hour security guard at the entrance to the condominiums.
However, the entrance to the aerial promenade leading to the condominiums is rough with many illegally parked bicycles, and the promenade itself is often dimly lit.
There are buildings under construction a short distance away from the condominiums, and some areas are quite dark at night, so please be careful.
However, when I ask Singaporeans about the safety in Johor Bahru, they all say the same thing: “It’s dangerous.
This may be due to the fact that there are surveillance cameras everywhere in Singapore, and people are very conscious of the fact that Singapore is a safe country.
R&F mallの店舗は大半が閉まっていますが、広大な敷地内はきちんと清掃されています。また、マンションの入口には24時間警備員がいるのでprincess cove周辺は治安は良いと感じました。
ただ、マンションに行くまでの空中遊歩道の入り口は自転車の違法駐車が多く荒れており、遊歩道自体も照明が少なく薄暗い箇所が多いです。
マンションから少し離れて歩くと建設中の建物が並び、夜はかなり暗い場所もあるので気をつけてください。
ただ、シンガポール人にジョホール・バルの治安を聞くと彼らは口を揃えて「危ない」と話します。
彼らがそう話すのはシンガポールはどこにでも監視カメラがあり安全な国という意識が高いせいかもしれません。
Summary
It is possible to go overland from Johor Bahru to Singapore, but it takes about 1.5 hours from the condominium to the center of Singapore.
The R&F Princess Cove facility itself is well maintained and clean.
Once RTS opens, R&F Mall is expected to become a busy shopping mall again.
In my personal opinion, I found Johor Bahru to have a very relaxed atmosphere that does not disturb the nomadic lifestyle.
However, I would not recommend living in Johor Bahru because of its proximity to Singapore.
Singaporeans talk about how slow Malaysia is, but I hear that some Japanese retirees are enjoying a second life in Malaysia, preferring Malaysia where time flows more slowly than in the fast-changing Japanese cities or Singapore.

You may feel a different change with the passage of time.

毎回ICA登録が必要かつ通勤や帰宅ラッシュは非常に混むので移動自体にかなり疲れる。

・R&F mallはRTSの開通に向けて再度にぎやかなショッピングモールになることを期待
私の感想としては、ジョホール・バルはとてもゆったりとした雰囲気でノマド生活をするには何の支障もないと感じました。
ただ、シンガポールに近いという理由でジョホール・バルに住むことはおすすめはしません。
ゆっくりと海外で生活をしたい、たまに繁華街に出られれば普段は近所のスーパーとコンビニエンスストアがあれば問題ないという方にはおすすめです。
シンガポール人がマレーシアはゆっくりしていると口を揃えて話していましたが、日本人の退職者がセカンドライフをマレーシアで楽しむ方がいるのも、変化の目まぐるしい日本の都会やシンガポールよりもゆっくりと時間が流れるマレーシアを好む理由が分かります。
ぜひジョホールバルを訪れて、自分の目で確かめてください。
時間の経過とともに、違った変化を感じられるかもしれません。
