私自身、正直なところ、行くまではそれほど発展していないだろうと思っていましたが……。
行ってみて本当に驚きました。
アイコンサイアムはドバイモールのような天井の高い綺麗なデパートやサイアム駅のサイアムパラゴン、
同じような美しいデパートが1駅、2駅、3駅と中心部周辺の広い土地に建設され、活気に溢れています。

Divergence from back alleys, poor road maintenance
What struck me about Bangkok, Thailand, with its beautiful urban cityscape, was the gap between the back alleys and the sloppiness of the road maintenance.
The department stores and surrounding buildings are high-rise and beautiful, but once you step into an alleyway, you will find the way of life that existed a long time ago.
In many places, the roads were not properly maintained, and the concrete sidewalks were cracked, making it difficult to control carry bags.
On the other side of the street, old homeless people were sitting on the street, middle-aged women were riding broken down motorcycles, and young men were taking used sneakers out of their one-box cars and laying them on the ground in large quantities.
As the city grows, the gap between the rich and the poor seems to be widening.
そんな美しい都会的な街並みのタイ、バンコクで印象的だったのは路地裏との乖離、道路整備の杜撰さ。
デパート、周辺の建物は高層で綺羅びやかに見えるが一歩路地に入ると一昔前の生活がそこにはありました。
また道路がきちんと整備されていない場所が多く歩道のコンクリートは割れキャリーバックの正常なコントロールが困難な場所も多数見受けられます。
大きな道路を隔てて向こう側には高層ビルが立ち並び一見綺麗な街並みに見えますが、逆側はホームレスであろう老人が道に座り、中年女性が壊れたバイクに跨り、青年たちが使用済みのスニーカーをワンボックスカーから大量に取り出し地面に並べている光景が。
街の成長と共に富を得た人々とそうではない人たちの貧富の差が益々広がっているように感じました。

Annual income of general managers in Japan is lower than in Thailand.
The above news was announced by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry at the end of May 2022.
The report “Future Human Resources Vision” introduces the reality that the annual salary of general managers in Japan companies is lower than that of general managers in Thailand.
I was shocked to see this news. Until now, I was not interested in Thailand and did not actively acquire information on my own. The image I had was still the old information from when I was a student.
However, during my two trips to Thailand this year, I witnessed the cityscape of Thailand, which is the same as Tokyo in Japan.
So, the above news became a hot topic in Japan, but when I checked with local Thais about it …

実際は？ 部長クラスの年収がタイより低い日本
上記のようなニュースが経産省から2022年5月末に発表されました。
「未来人材ビジョン」という報告書に、部長クラスの給与を比較すると日本企業の部長の年収はタイの部長よりも低いといった現実が紹介されています。
私はこのニュースを見て衝撃を受けました。というのも、今までタイに興味がなく自ら積極的に情報を取得する事もなかったため失礼ながら持っていたイメージが学生の頃の物価は安い、街並みは古い、利便性に欠ける…そんな古い情報のままだったからです。
しかし、今年タイに2回行く中で日本の東京と変わらない街並みのタイを目の当たりに。
そこで日本では上記のニュースが話題になったが実際はどうなのか現地のタイ人に確認すると…
タイの管理職は日本円で月収約80万円。
日本は安いとよく耳にしていたが、現地の方の生の声を聞くと実感が湧き危機感を覚えました。
また、日本人の初任給の金額を伝えるとタイでは8万円程度が多いとの事で貧富の差は格段に開いているとの事。
