Differences between Starbucks in Thailand and Japan
This is a report on my first visit to Thailand in 2023, when I went to a Starbucks in Thailand.
Starbucks can be found everywhere when traveling abroad, but please take a look at the following items to verify the differences.
タイと日本のスターバックスの違いについて
2023年に初めてタイを訪れた際にタイのスターバックスに行ったときの様子をお伝えします。
海外旅行をしていてどこでも見かける様になったスターバックスですが、以下の項目の違いを検証しましたので御覧ください。
Price
Currently, 1 Thai baht is approximately 4.2 yen.
For example, a tall size cafe latte costs 125 Thai baht, which is about 525 yen.
In Japan, the price is currently 490 yen, so it is a little more expensive in Thailand.

In both cases, the result is that Thailand is more expensive than Japan and the yen is cheaper here in this country.
現在、１タイバーツは約4.2円です。
例えばカフェラテのトールサイズだと125タイバーツなので約525円。
現在日本では490円なのでタイのほうが少し割高になります。
他の記事ではコンビニエンスストアの代表格セブンイレブンの値段の違いもご紹介していますが、
いずれもタイのほうが日本よりも物価高、円は安いということをここの国でも感じてしまう結果になりました。
FOOD MENU
cakes
In Japan, the base price for a cake is 485-520 yen, but in Thailand it is about 630-700 yen.
日本ではケーキは485～520円がベースですが、タイでは約630～700円。
dunuts
Sugar doughnuts at any Starbucks are 260 yen each in Japan.
In Thailand, they cost about 168 yen.
どこのスターバックスにもあるシュガードーナツは日本では一個260円。
タイでは約168円。
Atmosphere
I have used other restaurants multiple times, but I didn’t mind the talking voices at all, as there were more people working alone on their computers, reading, or studying than those who came to chat.
店内の雰囲気
複数回他店舗利用しましたが、お喋りに来ている人よりも一人でPC作業や読書、勉強に来ている方が多く話し声が全く気になりませんでした。
Separating Garbage
As in Japan, there is no need to separate trash by parts, such as straws, cup lids, trays, plates, etc. There is only one type of trash receptacle on the return table.
When I went with a Thai and tried to return my food after eating and drinking, I was told, “You don’t have to return it like in Japan, it’s the waiter’s job, you can leave it.”
I didn’t have to dirty my hands by opening the lid when sorting, and I didn’t have to stack the plates properly because of the way the person who returned them first had placed them.
ゴミの分別
日本のようにストロー、カップの蓋、トレー、皿など各パーツごとに分別する必要はなく
返却台にあるゴミ入れは一種類のみ。
タイ人と行った際に、飲食後に返却しようとすると「日本みたいにさげる必要はなく、店員の仕事だから置いておいていいのよ。」と言われました。
分別時に蓋を開けて手が汚れる、自分よりも前に返却した人が皿の置き方が悪くきちんと重ねられない…というような事がなく非常に快適でした。
Summary
Starbucks in Thailand is slightly more expensive than in Japan, but since the overwhelming majority of people use Starbucks alone, you can spend your time quietly and calmly.Also, you do not need to return the tray when you use the service, and even if you do, you do not need to sort it, so you can spend your time comfortably in a shorter time than in Japan.

タイのスターバックスは日本よりも若干割高ですが、一人で利用する人が圧倒的に多いため静かに落ち着いて過ごす事が出来ます。また、利用時にトレーを返却する必要がない、仮に返却した場合も分別不要のため日本と違い違和感は感じますがいずれにしても時間短縮快適に過ごすことができます。
